In keeping with our commitment to respect the environment and support sustainable industries, Hero Certified Burgers is proud to be the first Canadian chain to use a revolutionary form of new packaging for all of their products. The new packaging reduces paper packaging waste (35% to 70% less) and it's unique pleating design keeps food fresh longer.
Produced by GreenDustries Packaging and endorsed by Dogwood Alliance, Hero Certified Burgers will be using the innovative PleatPak™ for their hamburgers starting November 2010 and the Magic Bag™ for their fries starting January 2011.
Both packages use specific mathematically-defined parameters that surround food with an open structure of pleats. The material has small openings which allow excess moisture to escape while the pleats trap the heat. This allows the food to stay hot and crisp, without losing any of the original integrity of the product's flavour or texture. The packaging has been designed to fold away from the food making it easy to eat while keeping the food warm and safely contained within the packaging. The paper is made from 100% post-industrial/post-consumer recycled paper and uses 35% to 70% less paper per piece than traditional forms of fast food packaging.
The Hero Certified Burgers Team is happy to have found a packaging partner in GreenDustries that supports our core values of promoting products manufacturered in a clean and ethical manner, while leaving the smallest carbon footprint on the environment.
