Last year, a plucky and courageous boy named Matte Black contacted us to see if we could donate some Hero Burgers to his Heroes March – which was a volunteer-based group that walked the streets of Toronto to feed and clothes as many homeless and at-risk youth across the GTA. In addition to walking the streets, he also organized burgers and clothes to be delivered to three at-risk youth shelters owned by Eva’s Phoenix. Matte himself was a homeless youth who founded his not-for-profit organization, HEROES IN BLACK, to give back to his community by empowering and inspiring homeless youth.
Immediately, we jumped on board for such a great cause. We enjoyed ourselves so much during the Heroes March that we decided to do it once a month so we launched the Hunger Heroes Mission. Since beginning in 2014, we’ve fed over 1000 homeless and at-risk youth through our Hunger Heroes Mission and we don’t plan on stopping. This Sunday, October 18th is our 1-year anniversary.
After a year of late nights and early mornings, lugging boxes of clothes and burgers and meeting new friends, we’ve realized one thing: LIFE IS SHORT. DO SOMETHING THAT MATTERS.
